KAAD-Stipendiaten meet Angela Merkel
Each year, almost 200 German universities award a prize of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to their best foreign students in terms of academic merit and social commitment. 20 outstanding award-winners from all over the world were invited to a political and cultural program in Berlin and to a meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. We are very pleased, that this year two KAAD-Scholars were among the participants: Walid Abd El Gawad (Egypt) and Sidi Ould Estaghvirou (Mauretania).
Their story is documented in the DAAD-brochure “Ausgezeichnet” (“outstanding”/”awarded”).

Dominic Ko Ko Lwin (Myanmar)
When Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar in April 2008 and left 84.000 people dead and hundreds of thousands without shelter, it was Dominic Ko Ko Lwin, KAAD-Alumnus, who played an important role in the rebuilding process. According to Father Henry Eikhlein, director of Caritas Pathein, Lwin was as a Caritas project coordinator „of greatest importance for the success of the rehabilitation project”.
